After eight years, we wanted to build a dedicated, private space that is as intentional as the books we read. This new home allows us to offer deeper archives, a private community space (Discord), and a more curated experience for the group.

Not at all. We have a "come as you are" philosophy. Whether you read every page or just the cover, your perspective is welcome. We center the conversation on the themes of Black literature, and your voice is part of that story regardless of your progress.

We exclusively center Black authors across all genres. Our selections are curated to celebrate the fact that our stories are not a monolith—expect everything from contemporary fiction and memoirs to thrillers and romance. Twice a year we’ll vote for the year’s selections. Stay tuned for the next voting party!

Absolutely. We are a hybrid community by design. While we love our in-person get togethers, we offer virtual discussion options and a digital community space so you can connect from anywhere.
